Mahadevaaya Te Namaha
The lord, the almighty, the Mahadev. The creator as well as the destroyer Shiva. I think of him as an ally. the advocate and the director.
A god who absolves the compulsions rather than adding constraints. You can not just worship him, you must love the Neelkanth. Like Meera was devoted to Krishna...its a kind of devotion that demolishes the frontiers of mere worship. it is when your god becomes your spiritual leader, your beloved.
having grown up in a family of ardent shiv worshipers, yet have never adhered to the lord like i do now. i guess it takes time to identify one's true leader. it is not about which god you choose. it is about which system of belief makes you feel the most at peace, the most productive and in tune with the universe.
at my own level, have tried my best to understand and observe the various religions. but i guess, in the end you are attracted to the one that you most feel in tune with. isnt that true for all things in life? the color we most prefer, the partner we choose? then why not god?
or maybe i did not choose him, its a beautiful thought that, maybe...he had always chosen me. that i was always his.that he was just waiting patiently, like he does, on kailash, for me to realise it. to find my answer. and isnt that what makes him the supreme? a god who lets his people reach their own conclusions..who trusts them to tap into their innermost feelings and decide. a god who promotes individuality, creativity and the celebration of life.
his relationship with parvatiji and their marriage is the epitome of ideal relationships. they debate, make love, speak and listen. as equals. is that not how marriages should be? or should the man be allowed to test his wife's loyalty as and when and however he pleases?
religious is not a word i would choose to describe myself. but i am a believer. a believer in the story that there once existed a man who was strong, decisive, a little impulsive yet forgiving.Who met a woman and fell in love with her, never to look back again.
i believe that shiv and parvati nurtured and respected their love to an extent that they became each others life and beyond.
i believe that there was a man who respected nature and all its gifts. who respected mankind and not just his followers. a man who had conviction towards his own beliefs, alongwith the openness to accept the ways of others.
a god who was pleased by human virtues rather than promises and acts of loyalty, or bribes for that matter.
and hence, i believe that there is a god.for me....
